Skin Cancer: Prevention and Treatment Options presented by: Rahul Chavan, MD Dr. Chavan graduated with a medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine and earned his PhD in the biomedical and biological sciences at Emory University. He completed his internship and residency training in Dermatology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and then completed a fellowship in Dermatopathology, a subspecialty of pathology that focuses on diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases, at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Chavan has special interests in the treatment of melanoma and other skin cancers in which he uses Mohs surgery, the most effective and advanced treatment for skin cancer today. It offers the highest potential for cure – even if the skin cancer has been previously treated by another method. He continues to pursue translational research projects that may lead to more effective cures of skin cancers, including melanoma.
