"Vive La France" A wine and food event presented by La Maison d'Elodie and Jackson's Steakhouse Thursday, July 11, 2013 Jackson's Steakhouse is proud to once again partner with local wine merchant, Elodie Cardon of La Maison d'Elodie, to present a wine and food tasting, "Vive la France." July 14 is the French national holiday, la Fête du 14 juillet, also known as Bastille Day. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, an act that led to the conclusion of the French Revolution and the beginning of French independence. As the holiday falls on a Sunday this year, we are presenting the event the Thursday prior, July 11, 5:00 p.m., at Jackson's Steakhouse. With Bastille Day serving as the inspiration for the tasting, Elodie Cardon (a native of Lyon, France), has hand selected four stellar French wines to complement a selection of classic French dishes as prepared by Chef Irv Miller. The featured presentation for the evening is as follows: Premier: "Rillettes Trio," baguette croutons with duck, pork, venison spreads and Cumberland sauce paired with Domaine Rosier Cuvée Jean Philippe Brut Blanquette de Limoux, Languedoc-Roussillon, France NV Deuxième: Bouillon with ratatouille vegetables and rouille paired with Beaujolais Mommessin les Muriers Vin Rouge Beaujolais, Chateau Chiroubles, France 2009 Troisième: Roasted quail with Beaujolais, garlic, thyme and succotash risotto paired with Bordeaux Superiéur, Costes du Château Féret-Lambert, France 2010 Quatrième Sliced entrecôte, wild mushrooms, Marchand de Vin sauce, and potatoes dauphinoise paired with Mourchon Séguret Family Reserve Grenache, Côtes du Rhône, France 2010 Cinquième: "Upside-down" cast iron skillet cake with Chilton county peaches, and crème Chantilly The event cost is $75 per person plus tax and gratuity and will include four wines and five courses.
